I never believed in love. It only seemed to work for the people around me.
I see a couple walking through the park, holding hands. She leans closer and looks up, smiling at the man she loves, and he leans down to kiss her. They stop right in the middle of the sidewalk while walkers and joggers run past them.
I look away, only to see another couple in front of me, sitting on a bench, snuggled close, watching a family of swans float across the pond.
It makes my heart ache, believing I’ll never get the chance to feel that kind of magic.
Then I met you. And I knew I wanted the fairytale. The kind of love we read about as children, the kind that ends with happily ever after. That’s what I want.
But I don’t think you feel the same, so I don’t know how to tell you. I would get down on my knees and tell you how much I love you, but I’m afraid it would only push you away.
So I’ll settle for your brilliant, intellectual mind, for now.
But I hope one day you’ll see me. A woman burning with so much passion, and all of it waiting to be shared with you.
Forever yours,
Lovie
