The Glow of the TV

By: Lovie

With you, I want to feel Cupid’s arrows and flashing hearts. I want to be kissed and held under a starry night.

But I want the boring times with you too. I want to sit on our bed in your arms and put on a movie we never really watch.

I want to wake up and see your face while you sleep. I want to take the remote out of your hand and tuck the blanket over your shoulder so you stay warm. Maybe run my fingers through your thick hair and kiss your cheek while you’re still dreaming.

I used to think love had to be a grand entrance, with a spotlight shining on two people slowly falling deeper. But being with you is the only grand entrance I need. I don’t need the world to stop and see how much I love you. Sitting with you in the dark fills the lonely spot I carried for so many years. Outside the window, the world keeps going. The traffic is still rushing. But in this room, time feels like it has stopped, with the light from the TV glowing across your face.

Everyone out there can keep chasing whatever they’re chasing. That world doesn’t feel real when I’m with you. This dark room, with only the glow of the TV, matters more than any moment I spend out there.

Forever yours,
Lovie
